Young Garden Design is a sought-after landscaping company creating some of the best gardens in Johannesburg, but after three decades in the business their original brand was in serious need of a refresh.
I was asked to modernise the firm’s visual identity and to create their first-ever website, but to simultaneously maintain the heritage of the family-run company: their personal service, in-depth knowledge, hand-drawn plans and traditional values.

The redesigned logo is simple and modern, and utilises gradients to give it depth and richness.
The website is a visual celebration of the beautiful gardens that the company has created over the years, offset against a lot of white space to make the images speak for themselves.

The website is a visual celebration of the beautiful gardens that the company has created over the years, offset against a lot of white space to make the images speak for themselves.
Jo Young, the firm’s owner, is a trained artist, so I introduced hand-drawn illustrations to reflect not just her personality and love of the creative arts, but to also reinforce the traditional, hands-on approach that she takes when designing her gardens.
